Your second child<\/span><\/p>\n

But only daughter<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It was spring and the moon was waxing<\/span><\/p>\n

Hours of painstaking labor later<\/span><\/p>\n

I was born crying<\/span><\/p>\n

As the moon grew<\/span><\/p>\n

Your world did too<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Another miracle in el hospital La Milagrosa<\/span><\/p>\n

The same building where two years earlier<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon taking his first breath<\/span><\/p>\n

Your firstborn son breathed new life into you<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mami<\/span><\/p>\n

You had been a daughter to a mother<\/span><\/p>\n

Did my presence revive the little girl lying dormant inside your heart?<\/span><\/p>\n

Now you were a mother to a daughter<\/span><\/p>\n

Was I a second chance to recreate a childhood from which you had parted?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Papi<\/span><\/p>\n

You declared me your \u201cbaby joy\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Did I have you wrapped around my tiny finger like all little girls are said to?<\/span><\/p>\n

Did I complete a reincarnation of you and t\u00eda?<\/span><\/p>\n

Your son now gifted with a little sister to love and protect<\/span><\/p>\n

If we are said to be reborn with each day<\/span><\/p>\n

If I am a continuation of you<\/span><\/p>\n

A new ellipse beginning to form<\/span><\/p>\n

I also celebrate both of you<\/span><\/p>\n

A marker of that fateful moment <\/span><\/p>\n

We were all born anew<\/span><\/p>\n
